Laptops for schools roll out starts in Parramatta

More than 300 students and teachers at three NSW public schools will today begin road-testing new wireless laptops in preparation for the state-wide roll-out to all Year 9 students next Term.

While visiting Arthur Phillip High School in Sydney’s west - one of the trial sites – Premier Nathan Rees said that the two-week test drive would help fine tune the roll-out.

New Writers’ Group writes Haiku

Parramatta festival RIVERBEATS 09 - NWG Inc members and friends have been invited to write haiku for this exciting annual festival, that draws musicians and artists from around Australia and the world.

Our mentor for this project is Riverbeats Creative Director, Geoff Miller (see pic). Our poems will be projected on large screens and buildings at the banks of the Parramatta River.

Police charge 10th person over Parramatta jewellery store roberry

A Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Strike Force established to investigate an armed hold-up at a jewellery store in Sydney’s west last month has made its tenth arrest.

Strike Force Perratt was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery of a jewellery store within a major shopping centre at Parramatta, just before 11am on Wednesday 15 April.

Covell desperate to end Sharks’ wretched run

Cronulla winger Luke Covell has admitted the Sharks’ confidence is at rock-bottom and the players are desperately trying to remember how to win after sinking to a ninth successive NRL defeat at the hands of St George Illawarra on Saturday.
