Parramatta Stadium to be NRL live site

Parramatta Stadium is to be transformed into a NRL grand final live site for Eels fans unable to get tickets to Sunday’s sold-out game at ANZ Stadium, the former Olympic stadium at Homebush.

NSW Premier Nathan Rees says the state government will open Parramatta Stadium to fans from 2pm (AEDT) to allow supporters to watch the game on the big screen.
The Eels players will then go to the live site after the match to celebrate or commiserate with their fans.

American boxing superstar Roy Jones admits he faces a lot more pressure when fighting Australian Danny Green after agreeing to a 2010 rematch with old adversary Bernard Hopkins.

Jones arrived in Sydney on Tuesday to promote his highly anticipated fight with IBO cruiserweight world champion Green in Sydney on December 2.
His clash with former middleweight and light heavyweight world champion Hopkins, who he beat 16 years ago, was settled last week but is dependent on him defeating Green.

Woman demands puppy at gunpoint

A woman has been charged after trying to steal a Chihuahua puppy at gunpoint, police say.
The 26-year-old woman went to a house on Perkins Avenue, Kellyville, in Sydney’s northwest, at 11.30am yesterday with an appointment to buy a puppy.
She allegedly produced a gun and demanded the puppy.

PREMIER Nathan Rees has urged the people of NSW to back the ”mighty Eels” in the NRL grand final.
Yesterday the self-confessed westie said the Parramatta players would need the support of the whole state as they took on their interstate rival in the season decider.

Target in hiding as court hears Ibrahim murder plot charge

THE Ibrahim clan is under siege following a remarkable two-month covert police investigation that has seen the family’s two youngest brothers implicated in an alleged murder plot.
