This is Parramatta Art Society’s major annual event which has been running for more than 20 years.

Society secretary Brian Richardson said 100 artists entered a total of 320 paintings, all of which would be hung.

“There are six categories, the main three being artworks of all mediums, paintings of Parramatta district, and a junior section for students,” Mr Richardson said.

“This year we’re trying to enhance the local Parramatta theme.”

He said the event was well supported by Parramatta Council and local business, and attracted entries from far and wide.

“We are Parramatta’s oldest art society and this exhibition always gets a very high quality of entries,” Mr Richardson said.

“Exhibition-goers can expect a broad range of styles on display.”

The junior section of the exhibition is for students between 12 and 16 years of age.

* Details: The Foundation Week Open Arts Award will be on at Parramatta Town Hall from October 10 to 16. The free opening night is on Tuesday, October 13, at 7pm.
