Coldest week of the year

This week is shaping up as the coldest week of the year so far. That is not unusual as July is the coldest month and the period where you would typically expect a run of cool daytime temperatures.

June produced a run of 5 days at or below 19 degrees with today making 6 days in a row for July with at least another two cool days to come.
Rainfall has been a little heavier along the coast than expected with widespread falls of 10 to 20mm east of Parramatta overnight.

Rape arrest, Parramatta Park (Cairns)

A 25-year-old man will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today charged with rape, deprivation of liberty and common assault.

The charges relate to an incident at Upward Street Parramatta Park around 11am yesterday.
A 17-year-old woman was sitting on the footpath by herself when she was approached by the man who allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The woman’s screams alerted neighbours who came to her aid

Zappia family link in club orders

Conflict of interest … Tony Zappia used a family company to supply equipment for the Cronulla Sharks.

THE disgraced former chief executive of the Cronulla Sharks, Tony Zappia, had been using a company owned by his wife, his sister and his brother-in-law to provide tens of thousands of dollars of club equipment and apparel to the Sharks.
It appears a similar company owned by Mr Zappia’s brother-in-law supplied the Parramatta Eels with equipment when Mr Zappia was football manager at that club.
