The Court of Criminal Appeal has dismissed an attempt by Bruce Burrell to have his conviction overturned for the 1997 kidnap and murder of Sydney woman Kerry Whelan.
39-year-old Kerry Whelan disappeared in 1997 from outside a Parramatta Hotel and her body has never been found.
Bruce Burrell was convicted in 2006 of the crime.
Today Burrell’s appeal was dismissed, with the court saying his crime was clearly a premeditated and planned murder for financial gain.
This is the third time the Court of Criminal Appeal has handed down a decision on this matter.

NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal today called on Opposition leader Barry O’Farrell to reverse the decision to block laws to generate 9000 jobs at Parramatta.
The NSW Coalition today voted against the Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Amendment Bill 2009, which would have helped create 9,000 construction and on-going jobs at the proposed Parramatta Civic Place development.
The laws will now go to the Upper House, where the Opposition holds the balance of power. To secure and support the 9000 jobs, the NSW Opposition will need to vote with the Government in the Upper …
