Five Sydney men will be sentenced today over a plot to commit attacks in Australia.

A New South Wales Supreme Court jury last October found the five guilty of the conspiracy which involved stockpiling explosive chemicals and firearms.

Prosecutors said the men are devout Muslims driven by extremist beliefs to plot violence in retaliation for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The men are aged 25 to 44.

Justice Anthony Whealy will sentence the men today at a purpose-built court in Parramatta.
