Grievous bodily Harm, Logan: A 21-year-old Logan Village man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm following an incident on yesterday morning. About 2.20am it is alleged the man became involved in a physical altercation with a 19-year-old Chambers Flat man at a dwelling in Lavelle Drive, Logan Village. During the incident the 19-year-old was allegedly punched once in the head and then allegedly fell into a nearby fire. The man was taken to Logan Hospital and treated for burns to his forearm, upper shoulder and chest before being released yesterday afternoon. The 21-year-old is due to appear in the Beaudesert Magistrates Court on July 29.

Armed robbery, Woody Point: Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station at Woody Point which occurred about 2.20am today. Two males armed with knives entered the store and threatened the attendant and demanded money. The offenders have taken a sum of cash from the register and also a quantity of cigarettes before fleeing the store. Both offenders had their faces covered during the offence. One male is described as being about 165cm tall and the other 180cm tall. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Robbery charges, Gold Coast: Two Gold Coast men have been charged with a combined total of nine offences, including robbery, stealing and vehicle theft, following a police investigation into a stolen car. Around 12.20pm on July 14 a motor vehicle was allegedly stolen from a private residence on Great Southern Drive, Robina.  The car was recovered by police in Mermaid Waters yesterday afternoon. Police investigations resulted in two men, aged 22 and 32, from Miami and Mermaid Beach respectively, being charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Subsequent investigations resulted in the men also being charged with two counts each of robbery whilst in company. These charges relate to two incidents that occurred at a residence in Tahiti Avenue, Palm Beach on July 13 and 14 in which a 51-year-old man was allegedly robbed of personal property. The 22-year-old man has also been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a knife and stealing, as well as an additional count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Both men are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow. No one was injured during these incidents.

Serious Crash, Acacia Ridge: Police were called to the scene of a serious crash this afternoon. About 1.20pm a prime mover and a 4WD collided head-on on Paradise Road at Acacia Ridge. The driver of the 4WD, a man in his 20’s, was trapped for a period of time before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where it is believed he remains in a critical condition. The driver of the truck was not injured during the incident. Investigations into the crash are being conducted by officers from the Forensic Crash Unit. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Update – grievous bodily harm charge, Parramatta Park (Cairns): A 30-year-old Parramatta Park man is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with grievous bodily harm. It is alleged the man was involved in an assault which occurred in Martyn Street, Parramatta Park around 1am this morning. A 45-year-old Parramatta Park man was transported to Cairns Base Hospital with serious head injuries before being airlifted to Townsville Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Serious traffic crash, Cedar Grove: A 55-year-old woman is in Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious head and internal injuries after a traffic crash today. Around 1.25pm the woman was riding a motorcycle north along the Mount Lindesay Highway when it is believed she has struck a tree branch that had fallen onto the road. The Nambour woman then lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.

Assault charges, Helensvale: Police have charged a 57-year-old man with grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm after an alleged incident at Helensvale last night. Around 7.30pm a woman was located with serious injuries outside a residence on Mildura Drive. The man is due to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
