Target in hiding as court hears Ibrahim murder plot charge
THE Ibrahim clan is under siege following a remarkable two-month covert police investigation that has seen the family’s two youngest brothers implicated in an alleged murder plot.
The alleged target of the murder conspiracy, a 37-year-old restaurateur and former Ibrahim associate, John Macris, was in hiding yesterday as Fadi Ibrahim, 35, and a former bikie, Rodney Atkinson, faced Parramatta court charged with conspiring to kill him.
Police had moved on Thursday to arrest Fadi and Mr Atkinson after the plotters allegedly found where Mr Macris was staying, according to the head of the investigation, Detective Inspector Ben Janssen.

It is understood that police moved Mr Macris from his home two weeks ago and also asked his neighbours to leave their houses, such was the seriousness of the threat.

Nevertheless, the alleged conspirators, including Fadi and his younger brother Michael, allegedly found out where Mr Macris was living, forcing the police to act.Michael, who is serving a 6½-year sentence over the killing of Robin Nassour in 2006, is expected to be charged over the plot next week. It is suggested he may have communicated with his alleged co-conspirators using a mobile phone smuggled to him in jail.
He was moved from the minimum security Broken Hill jail on Thursday night and placed in the state’s most punitive and secure facility, Goulburn jail’s Supermax.
Yesterday Fadi remained in a small cell underneath Parramatta Local Court when his charge was mentioned.
His solicitor, Stephen Alexander, asked for a document relating to Fadi’s medical condition to be given to jail officials.
Fadi is on a special diet and still suffers from the injuries left after he was shot five times in the stomach in a Lamborghini on June 5.
In the public gallery of the court were Fadi’s older brother and former bikie, Hassan ”Sam”, and a long-time family friend, Semi ”Tongan Sam” Ngata.
Mr Alexander also asked that the telephone intercepts between the alleged conspirators be provided before Fadi applied for bail, on October 6, though police said it would not be possible.
Mr Macris and his younger brother Alexandros were formerly closely linked to the Ibrahims, but fell out with the crew in 2007.
John Macris was involved with John Ibrahim and an Oxford Street nightclub, and Alex Macris was known to associate with Fadi Ibrahim and Todd O’Connor, a drug dealer who was shot dead in a separate dispute last year.
The second man charged over the conspiracy, Mr Atkinson, also had his matter mentioned in court.
Nicknamed ”Goldy” because of his top row of gold teeth, including one with a diamond stud, the 185-centimetre, muscular and heavily tattooed former bikie was arrested at his house in Rosehill on Thursday morning.
Police said they found guns and drugs when they raided the Penelope Lucas Lane house, including a .22 calibre Ruger self-loading pistol with a silencer, a .45 calibre pistol, 9.3 grams of heroin, 12 vials of assorted steroids, a NSW Police badge and a bulletproof vest.
Mr Atkinson, 29, was a member of the defunct Nomads outlaw club’s Parramatta chapter, of which Fadi’s older brother, Hassan ”Sam”, was president.
